Nick Cousins
Instruments: Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Digital Music Production
Styles: Beginners, Classic Rock, Blues, Pop, Folk
Upon recieving his first guitar for his 15th birthday Nick has been obsessed. He has played with numerous groups and currently plays in rockabilly, hard rock and indie bands throughout Southern Ontario. Nick has a love and appreciation for all styles of music. From disco fiends, blues cats, classic rockers, punks to country pickers he welcomes everyone!
Nick began his education in guitar at Dave Snider Music, studying throughout high school. After receiving a degree in history from Wilfrid Laurier University Nick realized that he had spent more time studying guitar independantly and playing in clubs than in the library researching. Looking to expand his knowledge of music and technology Nick attended the Harris Institute's Production and Engineering program.
Courses in arranging, composition and theory helped to cement his skills on guitar and understanding of music, while producing/engineering numerous band recordings gave him new insights into many styles.
Stemming from a family of educators Nick's talent lies in his patience and ability to communicate musical concepts effectively. This makes Nick a perfect teacher for beginners and young adults. While teaching independantly Nick developed a style of instruction that revolves around the student, using songs and genres to teach universal musical concepts and techniques.
Nick hopes that his love of music and enthusiasm translate into the same kind of enjoyment that he got from when he was a student at Dave Snider Music Centre.
