Jordan has been affiliated with Dave Snider Music Centre for 10 years.
Philosophy of Teaching
Through years of both teaching and observing the teaching practices of others, Jordan has come to realize that each student responds to a wide array of educational approaches. "Art is as wide and varied as the means to its end," and subsequently individuals in a private lesson setting require various approaches. Some students respond to a more conservatory based approach, while others are less interested in methods steeped in the traditions of European Classical thought and respond to the languages of Jazz and Rock n' Roll. For individuals, progress is what's important, not a dictorial approach of style relegated by teacher to student.
Education
Jordan's own educational background consists of a BFA (honours) in Jazz Performance from York University, and extensive lessons in both Classical Composition and performance (William Beauvias & Robert Hamilton) at the Royal Conservatory of Music. In 2000-2001 Jordan attended the acclaimed Banff Arts Performance Centre where he recorded with Joe Lovano (Grammy Award Winner). Jordan has attended master classes with Gene Bertocini (Johnny Carson's Tonight Show), Peter Leitch, Kenny Werner (Author of Effortless Mastery) and Mark Whitfield (Verve Recording Artist). Jordan continues to study as he believes that an inquisitive mind should never cease to learn.
